If you like country music, the beach and all inclusive resorts, you would love Crash My Playa. For this event, Luke Bryan takes his song, Crash My Party, and turns it into Crash My Playa, a four night, country concert on the beach in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
I went with my sister and my mom to Crash My Playa, which took place from January 22 to January 25. It couldn’t have been a better time to get away from the cold, snowy, Missouri weather. When arriving at the Cancun airport, there were specified workers that took us to our resort. We were pleasantly surprised to see that our part of the resort, Barcelo, led right out into the performance pool and beach. By performance pool I mean the pool where daily 2 o’clock shows by country stars took place. Whether you were in the water or just poolside, you could expect to hear great live music.

The night concerts were a different story. Starting to wait in line at 5 for the gates that opened at 6:30 was brutal, especially considering the opening act didn’t start until 7:45. There were no seats, so those who wanted a good spot had to stand their ground in the same area the whole night. This also meant waiting for an hour between the opening act and final performance which was at 9:45.
This waiting time was definitely a good time to get to know the people around you. There were about 5,000 people of all ages, with my sister and I being some of the youngest. Everyone was so friendly (except for when you pushed in from of them to get closer to the stage) and were just looking for a good time.
As the host, Luke Bryan got to invite the other singers he wanted at his 2nd annual Crash My Playa. The first night included an opening act by Chris Stapleton and a performance by Cole Swindell. The second night (my favorite) included Sam Hunt and Luke Bryan. They were both so energetic and every country fan has got to love watching Luke Bryan “shake it” for all the girls. The third night had an opening act by Brett Eldredge and a performance by Dierks Bentley. Finally, the last night was Dustin Lynch and Luke Bryan again.
On the last night while he was performing, Luke brought out most of the previous singers and sang one song with them. It was also the night that we got the closest to the stage (we decided it was worth the standing wait).
This was definitely one of the best concerts i’ve been to and probably will ever go to. My family and I surely plan on going next year.
