February 22 through 28 is Eating Disorder Awareness Week. This includes anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating and EDNOS(Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). Anorexia is food restriction, inappropriate eating habits or rituals. Bulimia is binge eating and purging, or consuming a large amount of food in a short amount of time followed by an attempt to rid oneself of the food consumed, typically by vomiting, taking a laxative, diuretic, or stimulant, and/or excessive exercise. Binge-eating is eating an excessive amount of food without subsequent purging episodes. This week is a time for people that are suffering from these disorders to be able to talk about their problems, experiences and try to seek recovery without being hushed or ignored. This kind of recovery is the ability to control thoughts or emotions about these kinds of disorders.
