Lee’s Summit West Girls basketball traveled to Blue Springs South on their day off, Mon. Feb. 17. With that win, varsity clinched a share of the conference title with a 62-41 win. This is the 3rd straight conference title for the girls. This is also the first conference title for coach Jared Broughton, which topped off an exciting week for the coach. Broughton had a baby this week in addition to the win.  The girls move to 15-5 and 7-0 in conference play. Junior Morgan Pietig said, “I’m really proud of the way our team is playing right now. If we are playing this good, it will be really hard to beat us in districts. I also just want a student section at our Courtwarming game.”

On Friday there was a girl/boy doubleheader for the Courtwarming game. Both teams played Ray-Pec. Girls Varsity won 51-39 over a tough Ray-Pec squad. Their win Friday officially clinched the conference championship for a third straight year.

The girls have received the #1 seed for districts. They will play the winner of LSN and LS on Tues, March 3rd at 5:30 pm at Lee’s Summit High School.
