West’s Girls Swim and Dive teams continue to work hard as they reach the end of their season. The varsity swim team has endured a week of particularly difficult workouts, with practices in both the morning and afternoon. This little tradition is known to the swimmers as “Hell Week”. “Hell week is honestly just as mentally challenging as it is physically challenging. It takes a lot out of you,” said Freshman Chloe Metheney-Morris. Thursday marked the end of Hell Week and the near beginning of taper (a slow decrease in workout length and difficulty) for the varsity girls. The JV team began taper this past Monday in order to prepare for their Conference meet coming up on January 29th at the Blue Springs YMCA. Varsity Conference will be held on February 6th and 7th at the LSR7 Aquatic Center.
